Lighting Design Award 2011

Already for the third time the award was given within prestigious festival of Czech contemporary dance and movement theatre Czech Dance Platform (ČTP).

After two previous years, we continue in tradition of awarding the most original and creative realizations of lighting, sound and visual design for contemporary dance.

President of the jury was Swedish lighting designer Svante Grogarn who is known to Czech spectators thanks to his creative work with choreographer Julyen Hamilton and Steven Paxton. Other  jury member were Johanna-Mai Vihalem (EST), Jan Beneš and Patrik Sedlák.

Award was given to Pavla Beranová, the author of lighting design in the choreography Sacrebleu by Nataša Novotná (420PEOPLE). The principal criteria were rigorous conduct and mainly ingenuity of lighting design and its compatibility with others scenic components.

“We awarded namely impressive asymmetry of the light and scenic action. The performance influenced us by its virtuous articulation of imaginativeness,” says Grogarn.

 

The author of glass trophy that is Light Design Award for 2011 is Eva Nováková.
