In this autumn, the Institute of Lighting design offered two related workshops on the topic of video and its use in live performance. The workshop was for starting video artists, technicians and all those are interested in executing, creating or designing the visual component of art performances.
The first of the workshops took place between 30.10. and 1.11. 2015 being focused on technical aspects of video use in the context of a theatre venue, from preparation of the content, hardware means up to final execution via more or less sophisticated system. AVI or MOV? MPG4 or MPG2? GOP and VOP? 16:9 or rather 4:3? aspect 1,6 SDI DVI VGA PAL, Composit or Component? HDFull and HDpůl, Isadora, Arkaos, Resolume, Qlab, VVVV, MAXmsp či Resolume? Pandora vs Hyppotizer or perhaps GMA-VPU? What about interlacing? Could it be done with to Lens shift or one has to be warped?
On Artnet or with MIDI? If you have ever encountered with one of these questions (or another one, different) and you haven’t found a satisfying answer, the participants were trying to find it together during the workshop – Everything you always wanted to know about video but you didn’t have anyone to ask.
